~ Candle Care ~

Candles bring warmth and ambiance to any space - but they also come with fire risks.  Follow these safety tips to enjoy candles safely in your home.

  •   Trim the wick to ¼ inch before each use to prevent high flames and soot.

  •   Place candles on stable, heat-resistant surfaces away from anything flammable.

  •   Keep candles out of reach of children and pets.

  •   Avoid drafts—don’t place candles near open windows, fans, or air vents.

  •   Never leave a burning candle unattended.

  •   Keep candles at least 12 inches away from curtains, bedding, books, and other flammable items.

  •   Don’t move a candle while the wax is liquid.

  •   Use candle holders that are sturdy and won’t tip over easily.

  •   Use a snuffer or gently blow out the flame—don’t use water, which can cause hot wax to splatter.

  •   Double-check the wick to ensure that it’s fully extinguished.

  •   Don’t touch or move the candle until the wax has completely cooled.

  •   Burn candles in well-ventilated rooms.

  •   Don’t burn candles all the way down—stop when ½ inch of wax remains.

  •   Keep multiple candles at least 3 inches apart to prevent melting each other.
